Description

This outstanding 1963 Studebaker Hawk GT is a gorgeous example, presented with a superb, meticulously-maintained restoration. Sold new on October 31,1962 by Shubert Bros. Smithtown, NY, this Studebaker came equipped new with the 289V8 w/an R1 cam and 4brl carb, flight-o-matic transmission, duel exhaust (great sound), special vinyl trim, radio and tachometer, posi-traction, power steering, power disc brakes, climatizer, electric windshield wipers/washer, undercoating, bumper guards, chrome exhaust tips, outside mirrors, seat belts and whitewall tires. Subject to a comprehensive, nut-and-bolt restoration in 2013, it now presents in outstanding condition from front to back. Always maintained in a climate controlled environment. The Black paint is excellent, with deep reflections and exemplary fit of the body panels. The body is perfectly straight with no rust (ever) and no patch panels. The chassis, drive train, wheel wells are as clean as the body. The red interior with white headliner adds great contrast. The bucket seats are comfortable, usable center console, and rear drop down armrest state the upscale quality for a car of this era. The body is well-detailed with excellent chrome plating on the bumpers, grille, and trim pieces. This GT comes with a set of real wire wheels and radials plus the original steel wheels and hubcaps - also mounted on new radials. The best part is the drive. Studebaker put a great deal of design to compete with the European sports cars of the day. It's almost like driving a modern car. Unfortunately the cost in 1963 could not complete with the American models and the GT ended its run in 1964. Sad because it's was a superb car with a style that still fresh new today. Always a head turner and popular at shows. Besides the original mounted wheels and caps, original window sticker and bill of sale, owners manual, tech manuals are included with the sale. You can drive this car anywhere. Absolutely no disappointments.
