Description

2L twin-cam straight-six. Mechanical work consisted of removing and rebuilding the rear suspension, refreshing the front suspension, refinishing the underside and fuel tank, balancing the carburetors, and adding new engine and gearbox mounts, fuel pump, starter, and alternator. Minor surface rust is noted at the bottom of the driver-side rocker from a previous brake booster leak. A new Twillfast soft top was installed after the top frame was stripped and refinished. The wood nailing strip around the back of the cockpit was also replaced. A replacement chrome strip for the front edge of the top has yet to be installed but is included. The cabin was was completely stripped and a heat reflective and sound deadening butyl mat was installed over the cockpit interior beneath the insulation and custom carpets. A new dash cover has been fitted, and the factory stereo and speakers have been upgraded with modern components. The working odometer indicates 80,120 miles. The arm rests and door pulls are complete but have some cracking and were planned to be replaced. All its door panel hardware and trim that is not displayed in the photos is included. The original 4. 2L twin-cam six is backed by the factory 4-speed manual and modified with a CoolCat spin-on oil filter adapter, as well as powder coated valve covers and crossover pipes. Some topping off between oil changes is required. The independent rear suspension was removed and rebuilt with all new seals and needle bearings, as well as four new Boge shocks. The suspension cage was powder coated and the pinion seal in the differential was replaced. Both the differential and transmission have been serviced with synthetic fluids. Front suspension components were removed, blasted, and urethane coated before the installation of new upper and lower ball joints. Below is a video featuring a compression check of the engine. The area around the rear suspension cage was coated with 3M Body Schutz, as was the interior of the boot before the fuel tank was reinstalled. Startup and driving videos can be seen above and are accompanied by a video of the engine bay and walkaround while idling. The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate lists chassis #1R12068, body #4R6621, engine #7R9796-9, and gearbox #KE11062, as well as the original sable over beige color combination.
