Description

This 1967 Morgan 4/4 has been driven 1,500 miles since a 2013-15 restoration, which included a bare-metal repaint, engine and transmission rebuilds, wire wheel refurbishment, and an interior re-trim. Power is provided by a replacement 1. 5-liter Ford 116E inline-four that was rebuilt in 2013 and is backed by a Ford 4-speed manual gearbox. Body prep and a repaint in 2013 by City Service in Saint Petersburg, Florida are documented by a $6k receipt, and this work included:All 11 body panels removed, stripped to bare metal, and all rust removed or remediedEach panel painted both sidesPorsche Creme White (L51A) applied, approximating original Morgan Broken WhiteA new top, side curtains, and tonneau cover were sourced from Morgan Motors of New England. The five 15â?³ 60-spoke wheels were media blasted, repainted, and trued by Hendrix Wire Wheel, who also mounted and balanced new Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. This Morgan has received awards at several local shows since the restoration was completed. This short video includes an engine start, a view of gauges with the motor idling/revving, a partial walk-around, and front and rear light functions. Introduced in 1936, the Morgan 4/4 (four wheels, four cylinders) has been in production since, with short breaks during WWII and the early 1950s. The interior re-trim in Natural leather included complete seats and interior trim from Morgan in the UK. Instruments are original, and were all cleaned and calibrated. This 104-page book has full the details of the restoration, including almost $30k in receipts for body prep, painting, outside machine work, and parts. 20 over pistonsFast road cam addedElectric fuel pump installedOriginal Lucas 25D distributor refurbished, advance curve set to updated engine characteristicsAll engine ancillaries stripped, cleaned, and rebuilt as necessaryStamping to the engine block does not match the Morgan Chassis Record, indicating a replacement added at an unknown date. This set-up was rated at 65 hp when new and is believed to deliver more power after the recent rebuild, although output has not been tested. A rebuild of the 4-speed gearbox was done at the same, and included new synchro-rings, bearings, and seals. This video clip captures the following results from a recent compression test:165 psi â?? cylinder 1160 psi â?? cylinder 2166 psi â?? cylinder 3168 psi â?? cylinder 4The restoration included Morgan-sourced replacements for any suspect wood parts. Gallery photos show condition of wood floors from the underside, and in the cabin under seats, carpet, and trim. This Morgan Chassis Record provides original build specifications and shows the car was likely sold new by Charles Kressler & Co. in Newark, New Jersey. Chassis Number B1462 places this Morgan 33 cars from the end of 4/4 Series V production, which ran from 1963-1968 with 639 cars built.
