Description

He moved the car to Houston, Texas in 1987 and then to Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1992. The original RoW 3. Now showing 117k miles, the car received transmission and engine top end rebuilds at 103k miles, and the suspension was refreshed at 104k miles with new shocks, tie rods, bushings, and more. A service performed in June 2017 included new fluids, tires, and battery, as well as a leak down test. The Guards Red paint holds a nice shine, with minor blemishes present from age and use. There is a small touch-up spot on the right front fender lip where past tire interference bent the lip downward and the paint let go upon straightening the metal. The Targa top was professionally refinished in 1997 as well, and the front windshield was replaced in 2016. A small portion of the corner of the right taillight lens has chipped off. Note the slim bumperettes. New BF Goodrich G-Force Sport tires were installed in June of 2017. The included Carfax shows a minor accident occurred in July 1997, though the details of the resulting repairs are unknown. Black leather sport seats are equipped with heating functions and power height adjustment. The driverâ??s seat shows some bolster wear and a small tear in one of the stitch lines on the lower cushion. The heat system works correctly, but factory A/C components have been removed with the exception of the compressor mount and center console temp/fan knobs. The cruise control system works but allows speed to sag noticeably before it initiates corrections, and the central locking system is reported to be a bit finicky. During the time of import, grey-market 911s were reportedly shipped to the US without radios installed because of rampant theft at US ports. The radios were shipped separately to delivery dealers, who performed the installation. The original Blaupunkt New York radio, amplifier, and equalizer survived the process and are included, but not currently installed. All of the instruments are functional, including the clock, and the 116,710 indicated miles are believed accurate. The original 3. 2L flat-six is mated to a 915 5-speed manual transaxle that is optioned with a limited-slip differential. At 103k miles, the transmission and engine top end were rebuilt by Flat Six Motors in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A new Sachs clutch was also installed and the flywheel was resurfaced. Work performed in June 2017 included an oil/filter change, transmission fluid change, brake fluid flush, new left inner CV boot, clutch adjustment, new Interstate battery, and a leak down test. Kendall 20W-50 GT1 engine oil was used for the service along with Kendall 80W-90 transmission oil, and ATE Super Yellow DOT4 brake fluid. A US-spec catalytic converter, O2 sensor, and auxiliary interface box were installed for federalization and are included, but not currently installed. At 107k miles, the suspension was extensively refreshed with new rubber control-arm bushings, spring plate bushings, sway bar bushings, shock tower bushings, turbo tie rods, Bilstein HD shocks in the rear, inserts for the factory Boge front struts, braided stainless steel brake lines, and a fresh coating of cadmium on the spring plates. The shift coupler bushings, tunnel bushing, and shifter ball cup were also replaced, and the pedal cluster was rebuilt with new bushings. A Porsche CoA verifies the serial numbers, original color combination, and factory options. Records dating back to when the car was new document the maintenance history, and the original manuals, tool kit, jack, and space-saver spare tire are included, though the air compressor is missing. Spare valve cover gaskets, fan belts, oil filter and drain washers, and OEM brake pads are also included, and the original Belgian fire extinguisher comes with the car but has been replaced by a modern unit for safety.
