Description

This 1984 Porsche 911 is an M491 Turbo-Look coupe that is finished in Pewter Metallic over blue leather and equipped with sport seats, a limited-slip differential, and no sunroof. The Turbo-Look option features the brakes, widened bodywork, and many suspension parts from the contemporary 911 Turbo, and only 421 coupes with this package came to North America for 1984 according to Porsche. 2L flat-six and 5-speed gearbox were rebuilt 2k miles ago in 2013. The widebody M491 option was first offered in 1984 and included the Turbo suspension and brakes during the years when Turbos had been pulled from the U. S. market. Turbo-Look bodywork wears code U3U3 Pewter Metallic paint here with a warmer tone than more common Porsche silvers. Close-up photos in the gallery detail remaining imperfections, including sand blasting above the protective decals on each rear wheel arch. Staggered-width black Fuchs wheels wear Bridgestone Potenza rubber from 2013. The rear bumper and center reflector were repaired several years ago after bring damaged while the car was being unloaded from a transporter. Repairs also appear to have been carried out on the rear corners of both rockers, as well as on the lower valance aft of the right rear wheel. M491 cars featured a deleted Carrera script engine cover badge, while US-market headlamps are retained up front. A new windshield was installed 2,000 miles ago, while an aftermarket tint has been applied to Sekurit-etched side and rear window glass. An aftermarket dead pedal has been fitted, and carpeting is protected by a set of matching Coco mats. The car was ordered without a sunroof. Instrumentation includes a 170 mph speedo and a 6-digit odometer showing just over 80k miles. The A/C compressor will be replaced and the system charged with new refrigerant prior to the auctionâ??s end. A modern Alpine stereo has been installed and the original Blaupunkt Tucson is also included. Turbo-Look cars were powered by the naturally-aspirated 3. 2L flat-six from the standard Carrera. Fuel injectors were rebuilt and flow tested during the engine work, and a number of brackets were reportedly re-plated. A new battery was installed in late 2016 and is linked to a concealed kill switch. Power is sent to an optional limited-slip differential through a 915 5-speed manual gearbox, which was also rebuilt in 2013 with a new synchro, two new shift sleeves, and fresh seals. The underbody photo above shows replacement rear Bilstein shocks. Original options are also confirmed, including the Turbo Look package, leather sport seats, limited-slip differential, cruise control, and more. The Carfax report shows no accidents, thefts, or other issues and indicates a steady progression of mileage through 2016. Service records date to 2002 and include $15k in receipts for the engine, transmission, and other work performed in 2012 and 2013. The original window sticker is included and shows the $11,390 Turbo-Look option among others. Records detailing prior track time are also available. The sale includes a factory tool kit, Vredestein spare, and aftermarket compressor in addition to original warranty books, red key, delivery papers, copies of past titles, and other literature.
