Description

This 1954 Jaguar XK120 is a late production Special Equipment roadster that retains its matching-numbers 3. 4L inline-six and 4-speed manual gearbox. Special Equipment cars received several trim and performance upgrades over the standard XK120. It is sold with an original manual, partial records, and a clean Maryland title. Painted knockoff wire wheels are mounted with Coker rubber from 2007. Period tri-bar headlights are joined by Special Equipment fog lamps, which are currently disconnected and include a cracked right-side lens. Blistering is shown beneath the chrome on the split windshield frame, which also has failed rubber seals. Glass is delaminated at the edges and is chipped on the driverâ??s side. A set of side curtains is included along with what is thought to be the original canvas top, which shows patches and aging but is described as usable. Carpeting is discolored and worn through under the floor mat in the driverâ??s footwell. Controls include a factory four-spoke steering wheel, while switchgear is described as a mix of factory and non-stock items, including the horn button and T-handle hood release. Smiths gauges include a currently inoperative reverse-sweep tachometer and a fuel gauge that always reads full. The numbers-matching powertrain includes a 3. 4L twin-cam six and a 4-speed manual transmission. Induction is from twin SU carburetors and exhaust is via dual pipes through a patched muffler. The engine bay has been painted black rather than body color as from the factory. A Special Equipment car is denoted by an S preceding the chassis number. Special Equipment cars were given factory suspension upgrades including stiffer springs and torsion bars. Underbody photos are provided to show the condition of the drivetrain, suspension, rockers, and plywood floor panels. Varying levels of corrosion are detailed in the side vent boxes, floor support panels, and front valance, including some areas of rust-through. The right side battery box has been enlarged to fit a group 24 battery. A handwritten maintenance log is also included along with other paperwork, while further service records are largely unavailable. A matching spare wire wheel with Coker tire and jacking tools are present in the rear storage compartment.
